Black Sea Storm Wrecks Five Ships, Three Sailors Die

Authorities are searching for five other sailors still missing, but the approach of another storm is undercutting hopes of finding them alive.

The storm ripped apart a Russian oil tanker anchored in the Kerch Strait, spilling 2,000 tons of fuel oil into that waterway between the Sea of Azov and Black Sea.

Fires in California

Because of the forest fires affecting Southern California, their homes were forced to leave nearly a million people. The evacuation, which has already been described as the most ambitious in the history of the state, will soon be announced in the new districts of California-stop the spread of fire firefighters remains elusive.

As of Tuesday evening, the state authorities had information that the fire had destroyed about 1,300 homes. Another 68,000 buildings, according to California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, are in close proximity to the homes and could catch fire at any time.
